Julia Sawalha (born September 9, 1968) is an English actress, who is best known for her role as Saffron "Saffy" Monsoon in the BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. She is also known for portraying Lynda Day, editor of the Junior Gazette, in Press Gang, Lydia Bennet in the 1995 television miniseries of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and voicing Ginger in Chicken Run. Additionally, she played Dorcas Lane in the BBC's costume drama Lark Rise to Candleford, Carla Borrego in Jonathan Creek, and Jan Ward in the 2014 BBC One mystery Remember Me.

Her other television roles include as Lynda Day in Press Gang (1989β1993), as Hannah Greyshott in Second Thoughts (1991β1994) and its sequel series, Faith in the Future (1995β1998), Lydia Bennet in the television miniseries of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice (1995), Georgina and Kid's vocal effects in Sheeep (2000β2001), Carla Borrego in Jonathan Creek (2001β2004) and Dorcas Lane in the BBC's costume drama Lark Rise to Candleford (2008β2011). Her film credits include Buddy's Song (1991), The Wind in the Willows (1996) and Chicken Run (2000).
