John is known for his acting roles in the films Hulk (2003), Fracture (2007) & Beowulf (2007). He hosted Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for 7 seasons. He married his wife, fellow actor Nadine Stenovitch in June 2006. He is a very keen handyman & has taken on a project to renovate a french chateau with Nadine, they own two dogs.

He pitched two seasons in the major leagues, 1980 for the St. Louis Cardinals and 1981 for the San Diego Padres. He appeared in 94 games, all as a reliever.
